Freirich: A History of Fine Artisan Meats and Family Tradition

In 1921, Julian Freirich had a powerful yet simple vision: to create the best-tasting, finest meats with an enduring dedication to quality. As a young apprentice in Germany, Julian perfected the art of sausage-making before transferring that expertise to America where he worked in New York’s industrious meatpacking district. Armed with determination, Julian acquired capital and founded the Julian Freirich Company in Long Island City.

The Freirich business soon became steeped in family tradition as Julian’s son Jerry, and grandson, Jeff, joined the business and crafted artisan, time-honored recipes which have been passed down throughout multiple generations. The brand has remained true in its commitment to old-world methods and innovation, which continues to progress Freirich forward to this day.

At Freirich, quality is our legacy as well as a promise. Whereas other brands have adopted shortcuts to save time and money, we continue in our dedication to traditional techniques and craft our meats using only the freshest & finest ingredients. We have remained committed to our family’s history & culture and have built a workplace reflective of integrity and team safety.
